The One With The Over Sentimental Poetry

A thousand of your moments now lost to us in time. The person in that photo, your first job, your friend with the famous life story.

I thousand times I took your place in the world for granted. I should have asked more, listened more... found a pen at least.

A thousand times we missed the signs. The forgotten recall and missed appointments covered by excuses.

A thousand black holes that no one noticed. So we kept it in our blind spot because we knew we didn’t want to see where this was going.

A thousand shadows of your former self, each one fainter than before. An impression getting lost with the edges getting blurred.

A thousand shuffled footsteps never gaining any ground. Pacing from one end of the world to the other. wearing out slippers, corridor to corridor.

A thousand moments when I have felt alone in battle. A thousand moments you have must felt so too.

A thousand days in a place we call your home.
