Day 0 In The Nanny June Care Home - flashback.

12 February 2017 was our care home ground zero.

Day 0 in the Nanny June Care Home. That was three years ago. This is as long as my dad was in the same care home (also with dementia) and is considered quite the long term stay.

I have been keeping a diary since that day. Weirdly Nanny June wasn't there on the first day. I went ahead and prepared the room and made it all lovely. The home were great and let us move in one piece of her own furniture. Nanny June obviously chose the most massive and awkward piece of furniture which took too grown men to hump through the winding corridors to the right room.

Since the pandemic there have been changes in Nanny June's accommodation. She is in a different room now. No one told me it was happening. I found out by chance in a conversation with a random social worker who had been called in to help catch up with outstanding assessments. I asked for photos of her new room but have had nothing. I can't picture where she is or know that they set the room up 'just right' in a Nanny June logic way.

Day 1

So on my to do list for today:

- drive to Brecon and back - put mother in old people's home - clean house ready for viewing #15 - parents evening x 2

And look after an 18 month old.

Easy.

Mission Accomplished.

Nanny June is in.

Criticisms so far include:

a) no in house hair salon b) full of miserable old people c) terrible coffee

The woman has her priorities right.
